This is us

These are the bones of the earth—
the shape and structure
that underlies all that is.

This is the face of the earth
scrubbed clean by ice, wind and water—
smiling back at the sun.

This is the great inert mass of the earth,
Unmoved and unmoving—
inertia and gravity incarnate.

This is the everchanging earth—
frost-shattered, quake-riven
wind-worn and watered gullied.

This is the earth;
this is home;
this is us.
